Marriage,
Divorce and Annulments
"For
this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his
wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This mystery is a profound
one, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church; however,
let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that
she respects her husband.--Ephesians 5:31-33
He said to them, "For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to
divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say
to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another,
commits adultery."--Matthew 19:8-9
To the married I give charge, not I but the Lord, that the wife should
not separate from her husband (but if she does, let her remain single or
else be reconciled to her husband) --and that the husband should not divorce
his wife.--1 Corinthians 7:10-11
